Valentine’s day is almost here and with it comes my favorite conversation heart candies. This year we are making conversation heart marshmallows to take to school! The kids are going to love these! Not only are they delicious (because they are homemade), but I let the kids write their own messages on them. They came out a little messy, but they had so much fun!
Valentine’s Day is one of me and Michael’s favorite anniversaries. All of our anniversaries are special to us, but this one marks the day of our first official date. It was a beautiful one too. We had an amazing gourmet dinner on a boat while trolling the Columbia River. It was a date that trumps all dates. We were both our goofy selves while many of the couples around us stared at each-other or their plates. A few times throughout the night we caught other couples smiling at us instead of enjoying each other’s company. Micheal’s sense of humor makes me fall in love with him every day. He is a pretty amazing guy, and it makes me feel so grateful to have him in my life.
What you will need:
Homemade Marshmallow Recipe
Heart Shaped Cookie Cutter
Food Coloring
Fine Paint Brush
I made three batches using purple, blue and yellow food coloring. You could really go crazy with these and make all the colors of the rainbow. I chose these three colors because it was what we had in the cupboard. I know… out of convenience and not artistic thought! Boo!
Anyway… it doesn’t take much food coloring. I used about 4 or 5 drops per batch. You can always add more as you go if you prefer a more opaque hue.
Once we cut them out with a cookie cutter (use a generous amount of powdered sugar to keep the marshmallows from sticking to the cookie cutter). I gave the kids a fine paint brush to paint the words out of red food coloring. There were very happy with the results.
Now, this is my favorite part. We used our Gift Box Punch Board to make boxes for the conversations heart marshmallows! They turned out great! I can’t wait to see them all open the boxes and enjoy these delicious treats! What are you doing this Valentines Day?
