These look almost as wonderful as they taste. These are, yes you guessed it… grilled peaches. Not just regular grilled peaches… they are brushed with honey, grilled, nested with a creamy chevre and then topped with fresh tarragon. This fusion of flavors is stunning. I cant figure out though, if this is an appetizer, dessert, side dish… I’m thinking possibly all three! What are you thoughts on this?
I found this recipe at my favorite grocery store, New Season’s Market. Michael and I love to spend a lot of time there just looking and sampling their delicious foods. I try to keep an eye on their deli and bakery for new recipe ideas and exciting new flavor combinations. They always use local and organic ingredients in their recipes which definitely adds to the flavor and appeal which is always a win in my book!
We were just there this weekend strolling the market with Winnie in cart waving at everyone we passed (she’s so cute!) and these beauties called to me from behind the glass. The look of grilled peaches just makes me salivate. This recipe had me, solely because of looks. They just really look like something I want to eat. I know I’m not alone here. So of course I set out to make this myself. The man behind the glass gave me all the information I needed and here we are. Not only were these delicious but I felt a little fancy eating them… which is always a bonus!
In our house peaches don’t last very long. We are at the tail end of peach season now, and since we were at the coast during its peak we’ve missed the whole season all together. It’s a bummer and might very well be arough year! Winnie loves peachsauce (like applesauce only with peaches) and I am a big fan of peachsauce in my morning oatmeal. I am a huge sucker for peach oatmeal especially if it is fresh homemade and local! Throw away your microwaveable oatmeal packets ladies and gentlemen… this will change your outlook on the world!
- 4 ripe peaches
- 3 oz. spreadable chevre
- fresh tarragon
- honey
- Fire up the barbecue!
- Cut peaches in half and remove pits. Place center side down on a hot grill. Cook a few minutes until peaches begin to warm up and searing marks are visible. Remove and spread center sides with honey. Top with 1/4 of the chevre and garnish with fresh tarragon leaves. Serve immediately or keep refrigerated and serve cold later.
- Peaches can be heated up in a frying pan on the stove, however you will not get the searing marks achieved from using a barbecue.
Thanks! Grilled fruit is amazing! I am also a fan of grilled pineapple.
