I sure love a good cinnamon roll! The only problem is that if you get a hankering for a homemade, from scratch, ooey gooey cinnamon roll… don’t hold your breath, because it’s going to take a while. It can take several hours to make a good cinnamon roll. Which is why I flocked to this quick cinnamon rolls recipe!
To make cinnamon rolls, you first have to make bread. Bread is not a quick thing. Between letting it rise and kneading the dough, you can expect several hours to pass. After all that work you still need to shape, roll out, spread and cut your cinnamon rolls. When you are done with all that, you get… to wait for them to rise again before baking! Women in the 1930’s knew how long it takes to make cinnamon rolls, but they also knew how much their family loves them! Seriously though… who can resist a delicious cinnamon roll?
This is why these genius women came up with a quick solution! They start with a quick biscuit recipe and end slathered with butter, cinnamon and sugar! You are eating cinnamon rolls in less than 30 minutes. Not only are they quick, but they are homemade & from scratch! Oh… heaven help me.
I am pretty much in cooking heaven right now. I just celebrated my birthday, and to my surprise my Uncle, from Rose City Books and descendant of the Hutchinson Pioneers, found, purchased, wrapped and gave me a copy of the same book my Grandmother and Great Grandmother Hutchinson used to cook from! I would be lying if I said it didn’t make me emotional. Are you kidding me? Of course I was emotional. It was a hot mess. However, in my defense… I’m a sentimental weirdo 😀
It’s The Household Searchlight Recipe Book, and I’m in awe. Usually I have a very difficult time with older recipes, but I haven’t found a recipe yet that I don’t like. It’s time to get in the kitchen and start cooking quick cinnamon rolls, people! Oh! And check out my Uncle’s Antique Book Store, Rose City Books, you might find a hidden gem to spark your passion and inspiration!
