The hummus platter, a family staple. At least, it’s our family staple. I don’t think I’ve met anyone that doesn’t like hummus, let alone a delicious platter to go with it! It’s the perfect snack or even a meal on it’s own. Whenever Michael and I go out and a hummus platter is on the menu… we order it. Yup, true story. Over the years I have come to discover what I enjoy with my hummus and what I do not. Let’s just say that one restaurant in particular completely missed the ball with their barely cooked and rather large cut garden vegetables… *cough*… McMenamins *cough*. Excuse me 😉
There is lots to love with a hummus platter, especially if you get all the flavors just right. I like to think of it as an art. There are 5 parts to my hummus platter. The first is of course the pita bread then of course the hummus, I usually store buy (GUILTY!). I’ve yet to actually make hummus but I’m confident it will happen soon. These last three ingredients are circuital: feta, cucumber, sautéed red onion in white wine. Oh so yummy. Red onions sautéed in white wine adds such an amazing flavor to this combinations you will love. They are sweet and lively. Amazing. Truly.
Michael and I love to quickly toss together a hummus platter when guests come over and sometimes we slap it together for a movie night or just as a plain ‘ol snack. Yum! Be careful though because it’s easy to think you’re eating healthy but in the end you eat too much. Definitely stay within you portion control… I could eat my own serving as well as Michael’s, and all the people who live on my street. But then again… I can always eat.
