St. Patrick’s Day is here. I wanted Winnie to have a little something cute to wear. Green, of course, because then she can’t get pinched! How did that start anyway? Who first decided that we can pinch someone if they don’t wear green? Regardless, I made this crochet clover headband for Winnie to wear to our home-school group tomorrow. I don’t think that she needs the anti-pinch protection of green because none of the kids would pinch her, but she will look cute in it anyway.
I whipped this pattern together, using a smaller variation of the crochet flower pattern, with the addition of a stem. The band part is simply a chain that I tied in the back of her head. It took me less than 5 minutes to put together. Very easy, and I love it! I will probably make a few more of these in various colors without the stem. Now that Winnie’s hair is long enough to pull back into a pony tail, these this little headbands look darling on her!
Crochet Clover Headband
Directions:
Begin with a slip loop, do not chain. (The loop should tighten when you pull on the tail). Ch 1 into the loop.
*Ch 2, double crochet into the slip loop, ch 2, sl st into slip loop.* Repeat between ** three or four times until desired petals are formed. Ch 7, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sl st into the next ch.
Fasten off. Tighten slip loop by pulling tail, carefully weave loose ends to the back of the clover and tie in a knot.
With a separate piece of yarn, ch 100 fasten off. Using the loose ends in the back of the clover, tie it to the center of long chain.
Here is Winnie in her new crochet clover headband, looking super cute while playing with her chalk. It’s not the best shot of her headband, but I had to share. The sun is just now coming out after a long winter, and we are soaking in as much of it as we can. To celebrate we bought jumbo size chalk crayons and bubbles. Too much fun!
